Tee Tee lives in a women’s homeless shelter in Austin, Texas. I interviewed Tee tee in early March, right before the coronavirus crisis became worse with the mandatory stay at home restrictions and orders for people to wear masks in public. Tee Tee says the congregate homeless shelter she lives in with 70 other homeless women is chaotic. 40 women sleep in one dorm and 30 women sleep in another dorm room. She says they are trying to stay clean, but in congregate homeless shelters, there is little space to allow social distancing.
Tee Tee is politically active trying to help fight homelessness in Austin. She has a dream of starting a shelter for homeless women.
