It is estimated that war has existed for an astonishing 13,000 years, 8,000 years longer than any written historical recording. This means that before\u00a0<\/span>early humans<\/span><\/a>\u00a0picked up their clay tablets and started documenting everything from catastrophic weather events and oral history to mundane lists of property, they had already picked up their weapons and engaged in organized battle.<\/span><\/p>\n

The evidence of this is said to exist in a site known as Jebel Sahaba or\u00a0<\/span>Cemetery 117<\/span><\/a>, where archeologists uncovered the remains of 61 individuals believed to have been engaged in armed combat when they died. Their bones are embattled with injuries sustained by arrowheads and projectile weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The age-old debate about whether war is an innate aspect of human behavior or a dated concept, a hatchet to be buried, rages on. Still, it is certainly not with any shortage of soldiers.<\/span><\/p>\n

The U.S. Military actively enlisted more than a million soldiers in 2022. Every last one is\u00a0<\/span>50% more likely to become homeless<\/span><\/a>\u00a0when they return to American soil.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, remember, when you hear that\u00a0<\/span>veteran homelessness<\/span><\/a>\u00a0has recently been cut in half, that\u2019s only half the story. The truth is that 1.5 million veterans are currently living at risk of homelessness due to factors like:<\/span><\/p>\n
